Because of how social media has been abused and disorganized, we thought to come together to streamline and regulate our activities and to work as partners for development. We sent a proposal last week to request for partnership to grow the State and the Profession and he swiftly responded by organizing this training.
This training will build our Capacity abd help us to better organize ourselves and be more strategic to issues that concern us and the State.
This training is meant to shape our knowledge and experiences to use social media for good. Our social lives are in danger due to the arbitrary use of social media.
Every day I wake up in the morning, I’m skeptical about what people will say about me on the social media. Bad reportage especially rumours and fake news affect psychology and family lives. This is more like a convergence to discuss and find areas that Government is lacking and where we are also expecting you to improve for our collective gain.
We are going to partner with you to push you to achieve greatness in all you’ve set out for this Government. We thought to build synergy with bloggers to improve information flow and stare development. Bloggers are very important people as far as this Government is concerned.
We appreciate your contributions in the news media space. We wish to encourage you to be civil, responsible and more concerned with communication for development.
As a government, we are not afraid of criticisms but when you criticise, give us options. As long as you reside in Plateau State, we should build the State together for us all to enjoy our stay in it
Makut stated that:
Whether a news report is constructive or destructive depends on who is using it, when, where, how and why.
Our duty is to package reports in a way that promotes the growth of society. There is no time that there is contest for resources, relevance, ideas, others that people will not differ but we should be be responsible in managing these differences.
