Plateau State to be fumigated soon says commissioner of environment

There has been call for plateau state government to follow suit of other state as directed as a safety measures, the chairman Lantang North Hon Ubandoma was the first to fumigate his local government, sourcenews 24 in an interview with one Dr Simon Bitrus a medical health practitioner and an environmental health consultant has advanced that the government is suppose to put some environmental hygiene method by fumigating the entire market and the state capital and put serious safety measures and guide lines and some workers are supposed to be in some strategic places at all time mostly health workers checking some of the activities of the citizens.

Dr Simon further commend the state government for some measures taken so far but he noticed the violation of social distancing in most market he talk about the faringada tomatoes market, the way people flocks in there is almost like a trade fair, u see all manner of people there, he said government should put security personnel there and space the traders at least 400-500 metres away from each other and regulate the numbers of people going in to buy, according to him you see people from Bauchi state and other places trooping into the state no safety measures taken, he said God forbid if you have one person with the coronavirus many persons will be affected in the state and same goes to the tarminus market and he said is suicidal he call on the governor as the chief security of the state to do something very urgent.

In a similar order the commissioner for environment Usman Bamiyi Idi said Plateau state government said is set to fumigate the state capital Jos.

The commissioner stated this in an interaction with Journalists in Jos Thursday, on the ministry’s safety measures against the coronavirus and some Safety measures taken by the ministry

According to him, as part of the precautionary measures against the Corona Virus disease, the Plateau State government has concluded plans to fumigate Jos, the state capital and its environs.

“This fumigation is expected to commence any moment, as the needed modalities are in placed already for the exercise.”

He continued as saying “as a ministry, we are not resting on our oars to ensure that all measures are put in place to ensure a healthy environment and to protect our state of any possible outbreak of the virus. We are allaying fears in some quarters that the chemicals to be used by the agency is harmful. With the reports avialble to us, the chemicals to be used are not harmful to health,” he said.

The Commissioner explained further that the state government recently gave orders for all boarders, entry and exit into the state, to be shut down, as the directive was to serve as effective proactive measure to stop the spread of the virus.

Authorities of the state have insisted that there is no positive case of the Coronavirus in Plateau state, but 39 suspects are in view, with four awaiting medical examination results.
