Odion Ighalo’s first goal at Manchester United has excited Nigerians with many of them going to the microblogging platform Twitter to gush over the first goal ever scored by a Nigerian in the jersey of the English club.
The goal was scored in the Europa League elimination match with Club Brugge which United won 5-0 at Old Trafford on Thursday.
Ighalo’s goal for United came at the 34th minute, after a sublime pass from Juan Mata, making him the first Nigerian to score for United.
Ighalo joined United on loan from Chinese side Shanghai Shenhua
The development excited many Nigerians, on Twitter, as many had prayed for Ighalo to score his first goal for United in the match.
Some even went ahead to name February 27th World Odion Ighalo’s day.
Ighalo has, however, dedicated the goal to his late sister who died last December.
